One Day at a Time

Now, more than ever, I try to embrace the mantra “one day at a time” - living one day at a time, planning for one day at a time, focusing on just the present day.

Every morning I wake up and check how I am feeling physically. This is new. Usually I just check how I am feeling emotionally - how is my energy level, how is my happiness level, am I rested and ready to take on the day. These days, I first carefully swallow and check to see if my throat hurts or if I feel congestion, fever, headache, body aches or any other potential COVID-19 symptoms. It’s a quick, subconscious, body check. I am excited to notice I feel good, I am healthy, I can take on the day. I feel truly blessed. I say a prayer of gratitude and I ask that I do my best that day, I feel my best, and look my best. And then I go on with my day.

If I get overwhelmed at some point during the day, and especially at night, when I try to fall asleep, I remind myself to take things one day at a time. Today is a good day, I am healthy and I am doing my best. That is all that truly matters.

Try to stay focused and grounded in the present day. Take things one day at a time. Stay healthy and be well, my friends!

Love and blessings,
